Unilev 5 mg/ml eye drops, solution

Composition:

One tablet contains:
The active ingredient is levofloxacin.
1 ml contains 5.12 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate, which is equivalent to 5 mg of levofloxacin.
Other ingredients: benzalkonium chloride (preservative), sodium chloride, concentrated hydrochloric acid and water for injections.

Pharmacological Properties:

Levofloxacin is an antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone type (quinolone for short). Destroys infection-causing bacteria. Levofloxacin eye drops are used to treat bacterial infections of the front surface of the eye in children, adults, and adolescents 1 year of age and older. One type of infection in this area of the eye is called bacterial conjunctivitis, which is inflammation of the front lining of the eye (conjunctiva). Unilev is not recommended for children under one year of age.
If you do not feel better or feel worse after using the drug for 5 days, contact your doctor.

Indications:

Dosage:

Use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Unilev eye drops are for ocular use and are applied to the outer surface of the eye.
Recommended dosage for patients over 1 year of age:
Day 1-2
Use 1-2 drops in the infected eye(s) every 2 hours, 8 times a day while awake.
Day 3-5
Use 1-2 drops in the infected eye(s) 4 times a day.
No change in the standard dose is required in elderly patients.
The standard course of treatment is 5 days.
If you use an overdose of Unilev
After using an overdose of Unilev, flush the eye(s) with water and consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications:

Do not use Unilev

if you are allergic to levofloxacin, another quinolone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings and precautions:

Ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse for advice before using Unilev:

If an allergic reaction occurs even after the first dose, stop using the drug.
If you notice worsening of eye symptoms during the treatment period, consult your doctor immediately.
If you do not see any signs of improvement during the treatment period agreed with your doctor, please consult your doctor immediately.
In general, during an eye infection, the use of all types of contact lenses is prohibited.
Unilev contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride, which may cause eye irritation.
Tendon swelling and rupture have been reported in patients receiving oral or intravenous fluoroquinolones, particularly in elderly patients and those receiving concomitant corticosteroid therapies. If tendon pain or swelling (tendinitis) develops, stop taking Unilev.

Side effects:

Swelling or narrowing of the esophagus
Difficulty breathing
In rare cases, other allergic reactions may occur. Side reaction symptoms are:
Worsening of redness and itchy sensation of the eye
Worsening or sudden swelling of the eyelids
If symptoms occur, stop using Unilev and consult your doctor immediately.
Burning sensation in eyes
Deterioration of vision or appearance of mucus in the eye
Allergic reactions such as skin rash
Swelling or narrowing of the esophagus
Breathing problems
